Former LCHS Panther and University of Miami Hurricanes guard Rion Brown will play in the NBA summer League in Las Vegas for the Charlotte Hornets. Brown may face fellow LCHS grad Jordan McRae, who is expected to participate in summer-league games for the 76ers.

Another Liberty County High School basketball player is headed toward a potential NBA career.
Former LCHS Panther and University of Miami Hurricanes guard Rion Brown will play in the NBA summer League in Las Vegas for the Charlotte Hornets.
The information was confirmed by Brown’s agent, Seth Cohen of Verus Management Team.
According to the Hornets’ website, associate head coach Patrick Ewing will serve as the head coach of the summer league squad.
Brown finished a career at Miami by being selected to the All-ACC Third Team his senior year. He was No. 1 in games played with 136, sixth for the Hurricanes in 3-point field goals attempted, seventh among Hurricanes in 3-point field goals made and 10th for minutes played with 3,191. In the ACC, Brown was ranked third for minutes played with 1,586, ranked fourth in 3-pointers made with 91, third in attempts with 271, fifth in points scored with 566, sixth in the ACC for field goals made (194), seventh in free throws made, tied at seventh in free throws attempted (121), ninth (tied) for three point percentage at .336 and 10th in assists with 65.
Brown is ranked 28th on Miami’s all-time scoring list.
According to the Hornets’ website, the team will hold a four day mini-camp starting Monday and running through Thursday. The team then will head to Las Vegas, where it will play the Golden State Warriors at 8:30 p.m. July 11.
The team’s website announced that NBA TV will televise all 67 games of the Samsung NBA Summer League, with 38 games airing live, including the Hornets’ July 13 and 14 matches. In addition, will provide comprehensive coverage of the Summer League, including game recaps.
Brown’s former high-school teammate, Jordan McRae, was selected in the 2014 NBA draft last week. McRae was the 58th pick overall in the second round, briefly going to the San Antonio Spurs before the Philadelphia 76ers acquired him. Last Saturday in Philly, McRae was introduced to the media and given his new jersey. According to the team’s website, the 76ers will participate in two NBA summer leagues, starting first in Orlando and then in Las Vegas.
McRae has been listed among the players expected to play during the summer-league games.
