After an extensive search, the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors selected Michelle Ricketson as the agency’s new executive director.
“I am very excited to have Michelle on board as executive director of HDDA,” board Chairwoman Melissa Carter Ray said. “I feel she has a lot of assets to offer the community as we implement plans for developing downtown, especially Memorial Drive. Several anchors are coming to the Memorial Drive corridor, such as Armstrong State University, Renaissance Park and the new main library.”
Hinesville Mayor and HDDA board member Jim Thomas elaborated on those plans.
“As we move forward, we are looking to fit a variety of businesses into downtown Hinesville to serve residents and visitors,” he said.
In addition, Hinesville City Manager Billy Edwards touted Ricketson’s strengths.
“Michelle comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience,” he said.
Ricketson, who began her new job June 30, has a proven record of working with businesses, government and volunteers. She coordinated six national hot-air balloon championships as well as a variety of one-time and annual events.
Ricketson also has experience in communications, marketing and grant writing.
“She has led public and private efforts for community development and knows how to be a consensus builder,” the mayor said. “She is a skilled community ambassador who will welcome dignitaries, businesses and residents to our downtown.”
Ricketson and her husband, Jeff, have lived in Hinesville for one year.
