ATLANTA — The Association County Commissioners of Georgia and the Coast2CoastRx program save residents $4.6 million on their prescriptions with the Coast2Coast Rx card, a free discount prescription initiative.
As of April, Georgia residents reached a total of $4,630,362 million in savings on their prescriptions, and the number continues to climb.
Augusta-Richmond County was the first to adopt the program and has saved residents more than $1.3 million on their prescriptions since its launch.
Chatham and Cobb counties follow in savings, nearing $1 million. The Coast2CoastRx program has been launched in several additional counties since, and more counties continue to launch each month.
“As of March 2014, (the) Coast2Coast Discount Prescription program has saved the state of Georgia and its counties over $4.5 million since we initiated our partnership in February 2012,” ACCG Executive Director Ross King said. “Providing cost-effective county programs to citizens is a significant goal for Georgia’s county officials. The ACCG partnership with Coast2Coast has allowed our organization to assist them in meeting that specified goal.”
ACCG has endorsed the Coast2CoastRx program and encourages all Georgia counties to participate.
The Coast2Coast Rx card allows all Georgia residents, regardless of income, age or health status, to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications. The program has saved cardholders throughout the nation an average of 60 percent in 2013 on the cost of prescription drugs. The card, which is distributed free, may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Georgia and includes more than 60,000 drugs in its formulary.
The Coast2CoastRx card is available to print at http://coast2coastrx.com/index.php/print-free-card/.
The card also is available at county offices and local libraries in Liberty County.
