The two people who alleged stabbed a Lake George man Sunday night have been charged with aggravated assault, according to police.

They are Patrick Schuman, 30, and Krista Hartle, 34, who were scheduled to make preliminary court appearances Tuesday morning.

According to an incident report, Liberty County Sheriff's Deputy Paul Mumau responded to a report of a stabbing just after 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Perry Drive and found Michael Saylor, 23, laying the residence's floor suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back.

According to the report, the victim's mother, who was in her bedroom, heard what she thought was someone breaking in. In the living room she saw Saylor and a man, identified as Schuman, fighting. Hartle was also in the room and wielding a knife. The mother told the deputy she tried to keep Hartle away from Saylor, but alleged that Hartle threatened her, "If you come at me I will kill you."

The mother said when she saw the knife she backed away.

According to the mother's statement, Hartle allegedly got close to Saylor and Schuman fighting and stabbed Saylor. The mother told the officer she grabbed Hartle around the neck and pulled her off. Another person at the home told the officer he grabbed the knife from Hartle while the mother pulled her out of the room.

Both Schuman and Hartle left in a black Toyota Highlander which was eventually stopped by officers from the Richmond Hill Police Department and Georgia State Patrol on I-95 in Bryan County.

When officers stopped them, a 12-year-old girl was discovered in the vehicle. The girl's grandmother picked her up at the Richmond Hill PD.

Hartle was taken to the Liberty County Jail by GSP Trooper Robert Balkcom. Schuman was taken by LCSO Deputy Frank McClelland.

Saylor was flown to a Savannah hospital by helicopter. His condition is unknown at this time.

LCSO Det. Tracy Jennings said the fight stemmed from a disagreement between the parties earlier in Bryan County that is being investigated.

Both Schuman and Hartle are expected to appear before a magistrate Tuesday.
