Panthers fall to Rebels 35-7

Highlanders lose in opener 48-6

POSTED: August 22, 2014 11:10 p.m.

Liberty County High School dropped the season opener after a series of miscues, fumbles and interceptions made the game a bit easier for the Effingham County Rebels. The visiting team strolled away with a 35-7 Friday night at Donell Woods Stadium.

The highlight for the home team was an unofficial 75 yard touchdown rush by Jacquez williams. The Panthers played without starting quarterback Walker Franklin and starters Richard LeCounte and Jeremiah Gilbert.

First Presbyterian Christian Academy opened their third season on the road at Bulloch Academy. The Highlanders lost 48-6.

More updates will be posted online and the complete story will be in Sunday's Coastal Courier.
