Fort Stewart Police offer reward for information on vandalism

POSTED: April 16, 2015 9:47 a.m.

Fort Stewart Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information pertaining vandalism of several buildings and signs on post.

According to the reward poster released Thursday morning, graffiti that was spray-painted Sunday damaged 22 road signs, two government buildings and a road.

Police seek “information pertaining to the identification, arrest and conviction for the person(s) responsible,” the reward poster says.

Sometime over the weekend, most likely Saturday night, several signs, buildings, and streets were defaced on Fort Stewart with graffiti by a person or persons unknown, Fort Stewart’s Public Affairs Office announced in a news release Sunday evening.

According to a news release issued Monday, the graffiti was vulgar and, in some instances, included racial epithets. This highly visible crime and the use of the words are disgusting and not at all in keeping with the Army or nation’s values, the news release says.

Anyone sees any additional graffiti or has information on who committed this crime is asked to call Fort Stewart Police Investigator Cardozo at 912-767-5682 or the police desk at 912-767-9269. Anyone who sees suspicious behavior is asked to call 911.
