Liberty BoE honors its shining stars

The Liberty County Board of Education honored its shining stars during the monthly student and staff recognition ceremony presented before its regular meeting this past week. Board chairman Lily H. Baker presented certificates of recognition to the honorees before a packed audience.


• The Liberty County Pre-K Center received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The accreditation was awarded through SACS Council on Accreditation and School Improvement. Student enrollment for 2006 reached 475. There are 25 classes. The BoE also praised the school for raising $2,257 in a silent auction last year. The money was used to buy a popcorn popper.

•  Taylors Creek Elementary third grade teacher Janice Brennan was recognized for her outstanding grade point average while completing her studies in Early Childhood Education. She can be seen on Savannah Tech's billboard to highlight her success story as an upcoming teacher. Brennan began studying at Savannah Tech and is completing her degree at Armstrong Atlantic University.

• Joseph Martin Elementary School staff was recognized for 94 percent attendance for the first semester. Staff members having perfect attendance from the beginning of the school year received a gift certificate from Walmart, candy and chips, free jeans coupon, 30-minute early leave pass and special parking privileges.
Top attendance award went to: Brenda D’Angelo, Elaine Dasher, Rose Mack, Lauren Meyers, Marie Stringer, Shirley Tuck, Loretta Adair, BiBi Adams, Cathy Atkins, Theresa Brown, Eric Dickerson, Denise King, Mary Longacre, Megan Pawlowski, Amy Schultz, Rickey Moore and Anna Guerrios.
