Navy Federal Credit Union recently celebrated the opening of its newest branch in Hinesville, one of several new branch offices planned for 2008.
Tucked away in a new shopping center located on Frank Cochran Dr., the Fort Stewart Branch serves personnel assigned to Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield, their families, and, due to a recent change in policy, Hinesville residents.
Jennifer Sadler, public relations manager, said the Navy Federal Credit Union chose Hinesville because they specialize in military needs. "We adopted a lot of policies to serve that lifestyle," Sadler said.
A number of Navy Federal members, Navy Federal executives and local dignitaries were in attendance at the July 14 opening, which included a ribbon cutting, officiated by Navy Federal Executive Vice President Lee Gound, Hinesville Mayor James Thomas, and Toby Mahan, vice chairman of the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce board of directors
"My staff and I are very excited to become part of the community and are ready to serve our members," said Michael Hall, Fort Stewart Branch Manager.  "The entire community has been so welcoming, providing very positive feedback.  More than 400 members have visited the branch office within the first 2 weeks of business."
However, despite opening in July, the Navy Federal is hosting an official opening celebration on Aug. 9 to introduce the company to the area. Hall said the celebration will include an open house where customers can visit the building, talk with Navy Federal employees, and enter to win a door prize. In addition, Navy Federal is offering a $50 Visa gift-card to those who sign up for services before Aug. 8.
The Fort Stewart branch provides a full range of services, including Mortgage Counseling, 24/7 ATM service, and extended hours to provide more convenience to Navy Federal members. "We tailor each one of our products," Hall said.
Sadler said that Hinesville residents can now enjoy the feeling of security because Navy Federal Credit Union is the largest Credit Union in the world and boasts over $35 billion in assets, 3 million members, 151 branch offices, and more than 7,500 employees world-wide.
