ATLANTA (AP) _ Gasoline prices are surging again across Georgia despite reports that Hurricane Ike inflicted minimal damage to oil installations on the Texas coast.

According to AAA's fuel gauge report, the average statewide price for regular unleaded is $4.16 a gallon. That's a 16 cent increase from Sunday.

The national average for regular is $3.84 a gallon.

Prices also were higher for other motor fuels. Midgrade averaged almost $4.37 — up about 14 cents.

Premium fuel jumped 15 cents overnight to an average of $4.56 a gallon

In Liberty County prices appeared to be down slightly from highes posted Friday-Sunday. The Enmark on Highway 84, for example was down to $4.39 from the weekend's high of $4.59. And the Handy Land at the corner of Fraser Street and 84 had dropped to $4.28
