Very little fishing activity on the coast this past week
There is very little fishing activity this week because of windy conditions and the recent cold front that made its way to our area. Ray Goodman from Yellow Buff fishing camp had very little to report as well. The one report we have is from Buddy Smith who landed some sheephead.
Goodman has some live minnows and fiddlers and he hopes to have some live shrimp for the weekend. He believes that the sheephead, blue fish, whiting and black seas bass will start to bite.
The fishing should improve once the wind dies down and the camp operators bring in the live shrimp for bait. The spring tides will start on the new moon on March 19, and last for five days. Afterwards the tides will return to their normal six feet range.
The month of April should begin with an improvement of our fishing as the water temperature begins to rise and the shrimp begin to run again. Our trout and bass should start biting in April.
I’ll keep you posted about the live shrimp availability at the fish camps and remember if you do go fishing, always keep a tight line.
