In a nationwide promotion, Coldwell Banker will reduce its prices up to
10 percent today through Oct. 19.
Local Coldwell Banker office, Holtzman Realtors, has at least 100 sellers who agreed to participate with at least a one percent price reduction.
Brian Maike, Holtzman sales manager, said he's heard positive feedback from agents.
"We've actually been talking about this and planning for this for over a month now," Maike said. "It's been a big undertaking."
He hopes the promotion will "kick start the market place," and get indecisive buyers off the fence.
"Now is the time," Maike said. "The prices are as low as they can get."
With recent economic changes, buyers can choose from more homes and take advantage of the best interest rates in years, according to Jim Gillespie, Coldwell Banker president and CEO.
"Despite the difficult headlines regarding our overall economy, the residential real estate market has been showing several positive signs over recent months that could be signaling a tipping point," Gillespie said.
Maike explained the actual home purchase does not have to happen within the 10 days, and the seller has the option to discontinue the price reduction after the sale.
"We're hoping to make good commitments during those 10 days," Maike said.
House hunters can visit www.fortstewart.com or www.coldwellbanker.com for a listing of homes participating in the 10-day sale.
The reduced properties will be flagged on the Web sites.
Even those who think they can't buy now are encouraged to contact an agent or realtor.
Maike said there is no charge to come in and discus pre-qualification and other options.
