Church could be a perfect fit

In the pulpit

POSTED: November 4, 2008 5:00 a.m.
A newcomer to the area, Marianne Hemsley and her family have assimilated quite well.  Not only have they found a church, Hemsley also has found a job working in the church.
She works as the secretary at New Life Family Church in Midway. Hemsley said she is excited to be a part of a growing church.
“I am originally from Fay-etteville, Ga. My husband is assigned to Hunter Army Airfield as a warrant officer,” she said.
Hemsley and her husband, Todd, have three children and live in Sunbury. They plan to remain in the area after retirement.
“We enjoy living in this area because it is close to the coast,” Hemsley said.
“I have served as the church’s secretary for about two months, and we have been members of the church for almost one year.  I enjoy being a member of New Life because the church is dedicated to the community,” she said. “Members are very involved in reaching out and helping people in need.  We have the food bank to help feed those in need.”
New Life is situated in the growing Midway community on Martin Road. Church members are known for their mission outreach and their efforts to empower those in need.  Jeremy Lormis serves as the pastor.
Lormis pushes relationship building.
“We must establish relationship with each other. Through relationship, growth occurs and brings about fruit that remains,” he said. New Life has experienced phenomenal growth, both physically and spiritually.
“We understand the demands on families in our culture, and I am careful not to place too many scheduled events through the church to become yet another burden on families.  My first ministry must be to my family and their needs,” Lormis said.
New Life has various ministries in place to meet the needs of its members and the community. There are home group meetings during the week and ministries for women, men and youth.
“We have wonderful services, and the church has a family atmosphere. The praise and worship is awesome,” Hemsley said. “There is huge talent within the praise and worship team.
“Pastor Lormis is so approachable and down to earth. He is very  committed. His whole family is wonderful. They are such wonderful people. They are a blessing to everyone, and are not judgmental,” Hemsley said.
“We do things with the family.  Recently, we had a back-to-school tubing party for the children. On Nov. 9, we will be having a chili cook-off at the church.  It is part of our fall festival,” she said.
The New Life Church family invites community members to be a part of their worship experience at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. For more information, go to the church’s Web site at www.newlifefamilychurch.net.
“At New Life you can expect to feel welcomed and accepted — just as you are,” it reads. “New Life is a relevant, friendly and casual church that is filled with singles, families, children, teenagers, babies and adults of every age. Whoever you are, you will be encouraged by our passionate, full-band worship team and relevant and creative messages. You will notice that New Life is modern, fresh, and exciting. But, more importantly, New Life exists to point people toward Jesus. We’d love for you to join us this Sunday.”
