Congress still isn't being reponsible

Congress is winding down its historically unproductive session with a small flurry of activity. It's a welcome change, but so long overdue that it can't possibly make up for what should have been accomplished on Capitol Hill this year.

Tropical storm forms in Atlantic

The third named tropical storm of the hurricane season, Chantal, has formed in the Atlantic. If it becomes a threat to Coastal Georgia it won't be until early next week, according to the National Weather Service.

French rely on 'old school' methods

Last year, a Chinese-American "tiger mother" told American parents how to raise children who will make straight As and play Carnegie Hall before they reach puberty. This year, the French are showing us how to raise children who will obey, throw few tantrums and sit quietly in restaurants, listening while adults talk about adult things. Vive' la France!
