Just over 14 pounds of fish won the sixth annual Fishin' for a Cure Panfish Tournament in Long County May 20.

Lady Tide Fall to Adairsville 1-0

On Tuesday the Long County High School girls soccer team's season came to an end with a heart-breaking loss to Adairsville High School (15-4). Playing in Ludowici the Lady Tide and the Tigers went tooth-and-nail against each other for the majority of the game. But with less than two minutes to play in regulation Adairsville's Gillian Johnson punched in a goal to steal the win 1-0. Though Long County lost, head coach Sabrina Caines had nothing but praise for her team and their opponents.

Long County Falls to Brantley County 11-3

On Tuesday, the Long County High School baseball team hosted Brantley County in a 2-AAA Region contest. Despite a game effort the Blue Tide were defeated by the Herons 11-3. With the loss, Long County fell to 4-18 overall and 1-7 in the region, while Brantley County improved their record to 11-6 and 5-3. On Friday, the Blue Tide was back at home again, this time taking on Appling County. The Pirates went into that contest sitting atop the region standings with an impressive 7-1 region record and a 16-7 overall mark.

Liberty County narrowly beats Long County 4-3 on Diamond

On Tuesday Liberty County High School traveled over to Ludowici to take on Long County High School in a big rivalry game. Though both baseball teams have struggled this year, this game was important because it was a 2-AAA Region contest and it also was for mid-season bragging rights. Both squads had their opportunities to win but when the final out was made the Panthers squeaked out a narrow 4-3 victory.

Long County beats Liberty County 4-0

On Tuesday two of soccer's "big dogs" in the 2-AAA Region faced off in Ludowici with Liberty County High School taking on Long County High School. Though both teams went into this game tied for the second spot in the region, whereas in recent years they have been facing off for the top spot. Most soccer novices and experts would agree that both teams have a good shot at playing for the region championship. Lady Tide beat Lady Panthers

On Tuesday the Liberty County High School ladies soccer team traveled over to Long County for a big 2-AAA Region matchup. With the playoffs just around the corner both teams were looking to win this game to help secure a higher seeding in the standings. The game had the intensity of two boxers slugging it out in prize fight, and it took an overtime period before the Lady Tide secured the 2-1 victory. Karelis Jones and Kylee Proffitt put up the two goals for Long County, while Kayla Hernandez put up the one score for Liberty County.
