Multi-sport athlete Vanda Vereen Jr. recently was recognized at the National Underclassman Combine in Marietta. Vereen, who excels at both football and basketball for the Blue Tide, competed in the combine March 30 at Lassiter High School. Dead dogs report a hoax

A report last week that eight dogs were shot and killed on Demery Howard Road in Long County appears to be a hoax. The Long County Sheriff's Office got wind of the alleged incident and Sheriff Craig Nobles sent detectives to investigate. After searching the area, LCSO Det. Al Cato said that the report was inaccurate.

Blue Tide baseball team holds rec night for players, coaches

The Blue Tide baseball team recently held its annual Recreation Night in Long County. Around 50 players and coaches who are participating in the T-ball, softball and baseball programs came out for the night. Recreation department Director Michelle Rogers said more than 400 children will be playing this year.
