Medical helicopter lands near DFCS

A medical helicopter did land Monday afternoon near the Liberty County DFCS office, reportedly to transport a patient who had attempted suicide. It is the Courier's policy not to offer in-depth coverage of suicides or suicide attempts.

Teens hurt in ATV accident

The Courier has received word that an ATV on which five teenagers were riding flipped over just after 4:30 p.m. Friday on Peacock Trail, injuring several of the young people. One teen was flown by Life Star for treatment at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Two were taken to Winn Army Community Hospital. The other two teens, identified as males, reportedly left the scene to alert their parents and get help.

Pedestrian killed by car identified

A man who was struck by a vehicle shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Gen. Screven Way and South Main Street died early Thursday morning, according to Hinesville Police Department Traffic Investigator Cpl. Les Patton.

Many masks illegal in Pembroke businesses

The Jan. 5 armed robbery of a Pembroke gas station next door to City Hall has led the city's police department to post fliers in local businesses warning residents against wearing masks, hoods "or (a) device which conceals the identity of a wearer" into businesses.

A man was struck by a vehicle shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Gen. Screven Way and South Main Street in Hinesville, according to authorities. He was flown by Life Star to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Dec. 20: Simple battery - A Georgia Avenue woman told police her mother had "bumped" her knee with the front of her vehicle before leaving the home after the two had argued. The daughter said she was smoking outside when her mother approached her about burning a hole in the back seat of the car. The daughter said her mother had called her "a deadbeat" single-mother and then sprayed her in the face with air freshener.

Dec. 22: • DUI – Driving under the influence of alcohol - A deputy pulled over a driver whose vehicle was weaving from side to side on Highway 38 in Midway. When the deputy approached the woman, she told him she had been talking on her cellphone. The deputy smelled alcohol coming from the woman's vehicle.

Dec. 18: Simple battery - A woman police described as frantic said she was having a verbal dispute with husband at their Stewart Drive residence when things became physical. The woman said she confronted her husband about photos and emails she found that were about another woman. She admitted to police she slapped her husband in the face and told him to leave if he was going to cheat on her. She said he became angry and started to choke her.

Suspects sought in Long Co. assault

Two people are wanted in connection with a case involving a kidnapping, a vehicle hijacking, an armed robbery and aggravated assault. It was reported in Long County on July 2.
