Feb. 17: A woman was arrested at a business on West Highway 196 for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance after being spotted by her bail bondsman, who told police she gave him a false name during her bonding. Marijuana was found in the vehicle she was traveling in, and an Oxycontin pill and straw were found on her person.

Fatal wreck reported in Long County

A man was killed early Friday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Long County, according to GSP Trooper William Bowman and Adam Denton. The man reportedly was traveling at a high rate of speed on Arnold Drive near Pearl Davis Road when he lost control of his 1995 Pontiac Gran Am. The vehicle veered off the road, struck several trees and rolled over. The driver was ejected several feet from where the car rested, according to the troopers.

Passenger killed in wreck on Highway 84

A Hinesville man was killed Tuesday night when the 1986 Toyota pickup he was riding in collided with another vehicle at the intersection of West Oglethorpe Highway and Maple Drive shortly before 10 p.m.
