Two wrecks injure two in Long County
Long County police and first responders were busy recently, as there were two wrecks of local residents resulting in the drivers having to be airlifted to Savannah for medical treatment.
Smoke no cause for alarm
Smoke in the Hinesville area Thursday morning was coming from controlled burns associated with land clearing just southeast of town, according to the Georgia Forestry Commission's Midway office.

Theft by taking Wayfair Lane Oct. 10 An officer was dispatched to Wayfair Lane in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the complainant who said someone was going into her mailbox. She noted she had already reported one instance. Law practices using Tasers
LUDOWICI - Long County law officers had some shocking training Wednesday. The Ludowici Police and the Long County Sheriff's departments had a Taser training class from 1-5 p.m. at the Ludowici City Hall. Instructor LPD Investigator Richard Robertson said, "This class was a re-certification class for officers. To maintain your certification you have to have a four hour class every year." The bodies of three people discovered in the smoldering rubble of an early morning fire Oct 4, have yet to be positively identified.
MACE story correction
In Wednesday's edition of the Coastal Courier, it was erroneously reported in a MACE drug task force story that 402 illegally obtained Darvocets where found inside Rebecca Flood's public housing residence. The drugs were confiscated from another location and not her current residence in the 400 block of Gassaway Street, Hinesville. The Courier regrets the error.

An argument between two employees at the Hinesville Burger King Wednesday evening ended with a shooting.
Liberty County Sheriff's blotter for May 8
April 15: Theft by taking – felony -The owner of a landscaping and nursery business said his business office had not been open since Thanksgiving 2012. He said he went to the office to prepare for the upcoming busy season and found that during the time his business was closed someone took his trencher and a 100 pound bucket of scrap metals he had enclosed within the fenced area.
