Thursday wreck injures Long resident

A Long County man is in fair condition after rolling his truck this Thursday evening.

According Long County Deputy Tom Sollosi, at about 6:30 p.m. David Michael Woodard of Long County was driving south on Rufus Davis Road, when he apparently lost control of his pickup as he rounded a curve. The truck rolled and landed upside down, entrapping Woodard.

Downed power line starts fire in Ludowici

Smiley Elementary School was briefly evacuated around 2 p.m. Tuesday when stormy conditions caused a tree to fall on a power line outside the school. The downed line started a small fire in the woods and caused a surge inside the school, which knocked out power and caused the fire alarm to go off, according to Superintendent Dr. Robert Waters.
