Blood drive at HPD
The Hinesville Police Department will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross from 1-7 p.m. on July 13. The blood mobile will be parked at HPD and donors will get an American Red Cross T-shirt and be entered for a chance to win two Delta airline tickets to any domestic location that Delta serves.

Tribute for fallen firefighters
The community came out Friday to sign a handmade card as a tribute to the nine fallen Charleston, S.C., firefighters. Liberty-Long counties' sexual offender list
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, the registered sex offenders below live in Liberty or Long counties. They include men and woman. The oldest offender was born in 1927 and was convicted of child molestation in 2005. Six offenders are behind bars, while the locations of six others are unknown.

April 12: Simple battery/stalking/aggressive driving - A woman was arrested and taken to jail when deputies found a machete, sword and a handgun that were used to threaten her husband, in the woman's vehicle after she repeatedly followed and rammed her car into his on Highway 144 in Fort Stewart.
House fire displaces family
The Gum Branch home of a Fort Stewart soldier and his family was heavily damaged Thursday night by fire. The family and their pets made it out OK but lost most of their belongings.
