Five people, including a 7-year-old boy, were taken to area hospitals after an apartment fire in Hinesville Thursday night.
WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., and Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today announced that the Riceboro Fire and Rescue Department will receive a $19,214 grant as part of the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

A mobile home fire Sunday morning in the 3800 block of E.B. Cooper Highway displaced a husband and wife and their granddaughter. Charlie Houston and his family had lived in the home for more than 15 years.

A Hinesville woman, Charise Frasier, 30, was killed in a single-car accident early this morning, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper A.M. Cheney .
No charges have been filed in the accident last week that took the lives of a Statesboro grandmother and her 3-year-old grandson.
