Shots fired April 20, 2007 Whitetail Circle Police arrived at a residential neighborhood in response to a man firing a pellet gun at birds. The neighbors were concerned a pellet would inadvertently hit children playing in their yards. Police met with the man who told them he was shooting BBs at squirrels because they ruined his garden. Two men are facing theft charges in Long County following their arrests in separate incidents.
Maintenance barn burns at mobile home park
While the Ludowici/Long County Fire Department was fighting a woods fire Monday that destroyed about 90 acres on Elim Church Road, additional units were dispatched to Sandy Ridge Drive on the opposite side of the county in response to a structure fire.
EMT training at Savannah Tech praised

Date set for Chipp trial
A tentative trial has been scheduled for former Midway volunteer firefighter Calvin Chipp for May 29. He is charged with murder in the April 2005 death of Roger Harrell. They got into a fight at the Sky Box in Midway. A grand jury felt enough evidence was presented to proceed with a trial dated in the case that also alleges Chipp was in possession of a vehicle with altered identification during the reported offense.

Fleeing and attempting to elude/speeding April 16, 2007 Shuman Road, Hinesville A gray Nissan traveling at a high rate of speed tried to elude deputies when they tried to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the Nissan proceeded at a high rate of speed through Groover and Ray roads until the deputies saw him returning to Highway 196 and turning turn onto Mobley Road. The driver was arrested for speeding and attempting to elude. ...
Former soldier found guilty of kidnapping
A Long County jury took less than one hour to find Michael Clements guilty this past week of kidnapping and two counts of aggravated sodomy.

Liberty County Sheriff's blotter for May 10
April 16: Simple battery/family violence/criminal trespass - A woman said her live-in boyfriend pushed and shoved her during a heated argument inside their Victory Manor Mobile Home residence. She said she called 911 so her boyfriend left the house but not before punching the wall and leaving a big hole in the wall. She refused medical treatment.
Update: Employee shot at Burger King
An argument between two employees at the Hinesville Burger King Wednesday evening ended with a shooting.
