Aug. 7: Police spotted a vehicle in an area known for drug activity and stopped the driver for a seat-belt violation at Flowers Drive. The driver admitted to carrying marijuana, and a search of the vehicle turned up a digital scale and other items identified as contraband. The driver was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Microburst damages condo complex, grocery store

A microburst damaged a Hinesville condominium complex Saturday afternoon. The storm blew into Hinesville Ravenwood Condos on Pineland Avenue shortly before 3 p.m., sending tree limbs crashing onto vehicles and porches.

Hinesville, Flemington negotiating fire service agreement

Hinesville city officials decided Hinesville residents no longer should foot the bill for providing fire service outside the city limits, namely to Flemington and parts of unincorporated Liberty County. The Hinesville City Council discussed renegotiating a fire service agreement with the county and Flemington during an off-site planning session last week on St. Simons Island.

A sewage spill occurred at the city of Hinesville/Fort Stewart Regional Water Pollution Control Plant on Aug. 9. An estimated 100,000 gallons of sewage entered a Taylors Creek tributary due to a pipe blockage and recent heavy rains.

PUEBLO, Colo. - An FBI manhunt for three heavily armed siblings accused of shooting at a police officer in Florida and robbing a Georgia bank ended Wednesday with a police chase in Colorado, where shots were fired at officers before the suspects' car rolled and crashed into a guard rail.

Aug. 2: Police arrested a driver for possession of marijuana and a seat-belt violation after stopping him at Kacey Drive and South Main Street. The driver would not obey police commands during the stop, and a K-9 officer registered a hit on the vehicle. A search of the driver revealed a small baggie of marijuana on his person.
