The Long County E-911 Committee met with GeoComm and representatives from McIntosh County on June 15.
The community came out Friday to sign a handmade card as a tribute to the nine fallen Charleston, S.C., firefighters. Missy Blount, wife of Fleming Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeff Blount, created the card and decorated the table with candles, pictures of each of the firefighters who lost their lives in a fire at a furniture warehouse Monday, and flowers as a tribute to their lost brethren. The card along with some donations that were received will be sent to the firefighters station in South Carolina.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, the registered sex offenders below live in Liberty or Long counties. They include men and woman. The oldest offender was born in 1927 and was convicted of child molestation in 2005. Six offenders are behind bars, while the locations of six others are unknown.

July 5: Burglary, forced entry, residence, second degree - As an officer was on foot patrol, he noticed the door open of a residence in Country Side Mobile Home Park. The officer entered, and there was no one there. Later, the resident showed up. He said he saw his front door open, and because he was new to the country, he did not know to call 911, so he left the residence. Nothing was missing from the residence, but two sprayer machines were missing from the utility trailer, which total $4,000.
Candice and Torres Boles briefly were in court Monday morning, where they waived their rights to a formal arraignment and entered pleas of not guilty.
