According to Multi Agency Drug Task Force Unit Commander Al Cato, agents conducted a scheduled school safety check on Nov. 5 at Midway Middle School assisted by the Chatham County Sheriff Department's K-9 units and a Liberty County school resource officer deputy.
"They're happening everywhere. Liberty County's been having them. The city (Ludowici) has been having their share, and we've had a bunch," said Long County Sheriff's Department, Chief Investigator Ty Smith of a recent string of burglaries in the area. "They come up to the house, kick in the door and they're in and out quick."
The Ludowici City Council recently voted to provide free emergency air-transport service to its residents.
