Rabid dog bites owners

A Riceboro couple is undergoing preventive treatment for rabies after both were bitten by the family dog which has tested positive for the virus.According to the Coastal Health District, the German shepherd was not up-to-date on its rabies vaccination. Liberty County Environmental Health officials remind residents to get all pets vaccinated. It's the law and not only protects the pet but also family members.

Sheriff's blotter for Feb. 1

Jan. 10 Simple battery - A couple argued in the middle of the intersection at Live Oak Church and Griffin Park roads about their three small children, two of whom were in the car during the argument. The man said his girlfriend slapped his arm and pushed him, but he didn't want to pursue charges. The woman said the man yelled but never touched her in a harmful way. She added that she had custody of all three kids.

Terrorist group woman denied bond

Accused FEAR militia member Heather Salmon was arraigned Thursday on 13 counts, including charges of malice murder, felony murder, violations of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and making a false statement. She entered a not-guilty plea before Long County Superior Court Judge Robert Russell.
