A tentative trial has been scheduled for former Midway volunteer firefighter Calvin Chipp for May 29. He is charged with murder in the April 2005 death of Roger Harrell. The daughter said she was smoking outside when her mother approached her about burning a hole in the back seat of the car. The daughter said her mother had called her "a deadbeat" single-mother and then sprayed her in the face with air freshener.
Dec. 22: • DUI – Driving under the influence of alcohol - A deputy pulled over a driver whose vehicle was weaving from side to side on Highway 38 in Midway. When the deputy approached the woman, she told him she had been talking on her cellphone. The deputy smelled alcohol coming from the woman's vehicle.
