Post honors Hinesville PD

Fort Stewart Garrison Commander Col. Kevin W. Milton and Command Sgt. Maj. James E. Liberty gets money for drug court

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., announced recently that Liberty County has received $203,000 in funding through the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program. The grant will be used to start the Liberty County Drug Court program which will target all adult offenders with a drug or substance abuse problem.

A man found submerged in a creek behind his home near Midway Thursday evening has been identified as Thomas Eugene Grier, 76, according to a Liberty County Sheriff Department incident report.

Drowning suspected on Isle of Wight

An elderly man was found submerged in water Thursday afternoon in a pond on the Isle of Wight.

Liberty County Coroner Reginald Pierce confirmed that a man was found in a pond on the west side of the marsh community, but he was unsure what caused the death. He said it was too early to release the name of the victim.
