Shooting suspect nabbed in Florida

A man wanted in connection with a March 9 shooting in Long County has bee captured June 27 in Duval County, Fla. The suspect, Edward Earl Holmes, 29, had been on the run for nearly four months, according to Long County Sheriff's Office Investigator Tom Sollosi. Three injured in Long County wreck

A two-car wreck Tuesday in Long County sent three people to the hospital. Georgia State Patrol Trooper W.N. Bouman said he received a call just after 1 p.m. about a two-vehicle accident on Highway 301 South, just outside Ludowici's city limits.

Time to put the phones down while driving

Two new laws took effect July 1. Senate Bill 360 bans texting while driving for adult drivers and House Bill 23 bans all cell phone use for teen drivers. Both of these new laws carry fines of $150 and one point added to the driving records of violators. The new laws are designed to reduce distracted driving. Twenty-five states already ban texting for all drivers and 25 states also ban all cell phone usage for teen drivers.
