Heat advisory updated for Tuesday

A heat advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for our area for this afternoon. And isolated sever thunderstorms are possible because of the heat.

The service's Charleston office said the temperature, plus humidity will be dangerous from noon until 8 this evening. The chance of pop-up storms will last until 10 Tuesday evening.

Child shot in drive-by out of hospital

The child injured in an apparent drive-by shooting Saturday evening has been released from the hospital, Hinesville Police report.

The 5-year-old was injured in what police are describing as a drive-by shootings Saturday at about 6:30 p.m.

According to Hinesville Police Department Chief of Detectives, Maj. Thomas Cribbs, David Anthony Jones Jr., 28, was at home alone in the Tapco Mobile Home Park in the 100 block of Folker Road.

Accused turtle theft case delayed

TYBEE ISLAND (AP) - Two people accused of stealing endangered turtles from the Tybee Island Marine Science Center are getting a short reprieve before their case goes to court.

A Municipal Court judge delayed until July 28 a preliminary hearing for Thomas Stewart II and Desiree Pulse of Hinesville. Both are charged with theft and animal cruelty.
