Jan. 21: Matter of record - A woman called in to report that a man driving a black sports car was driving in front of her residence and taking pictures of her and her house. When deputies arrived, the woman showed an officer a picture she took with her cell phone. The photo showed a man taking a picture of the woman.

Hinesville PD blotter for Feb. 7

Jan. 14: Burglary, forced entry - Three people house-sitting a Pointe South Drive residence called police and reported a break-in. A carport window and a living-room window had been broken, and an officer noticed a gloved handprint on the window. A television, Nintendo Wii and two laptop computers were missing. The complainants could not provide any serial numbers or more detailed descriptions of the missing items. A detective was notified, and the complainants were given victims' rights information and instructions for obtaining a copy of the report.

Hit and run victim still in hospital

Reginald Hubbert came home to Riceboro during his Christmas break from art school in San Francisco. Around 10:30 p.m. Jan. 14, Hubbert was walking on the shoulder of Briar Bay Road when he was struck from behind by a Toyota Camry, allegedly driven by Henry James, also of Riceboro. More than three weeks later, Hubbert still is not out of the woods.

Jan. 13: Theft by taking - A Veterans Parkway man told police he and his wife were involved in a dispute, during which she began to slap and punch his face and took his phone. He said he didn't fight back but tried to restrain her. Later, the man said he came into contact with his wife at their lawyer's office. She reportedly took the keys out of the ignition of his car and threatened to throw them in a well. The responding officer noticed slight swelling and a scar on the complainant's lip. Dec. 27: Matter of record - A Hinesville woman walked into the sheriff's office and told deputies her ex-husband had called from California about six years ago and had then threatened to bury her. The woman said she has had no contact with him since, but was told he was moving to the area. She requested a report because she fears for her safety.

Peden, Salmon admit guilt in murders

Christopher Salmon and Anthony Peden, accused members of the F.E.A.R. militia, appeared in Long County court this morning and pleaded guilty in negotiated deals worked out with the state, according to prosecutor Isabel Pauley. They had been facing charges in the December 2011 deaths of Tiffany York, 17, and Michael Roark, 19.
