Authorities are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide Monday morning in Richmond Hill.

Nov. 1: Suspicious acts - An officer conducting a foot patrol along Gen. Screven Way was flagged down by a citizen who found a shell casing in the parking lot of Stewart Way Apartments. The woman said she called police earlier that day after hearing gunshots and witnessing a group of people arguing in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Body found at Holbrook Pond

Military authorities are investigating the death of a man at Holbrook Pond on Fort Stewart. The man's body was found at the campsite, which is used by military personnel and retirees. The site is roughly 5 miles from the main post area and sits off of Ga. 144 east, about 10 miles from Richmond Hill.

Fatality reported at paper mill

A man was killed Wednesday afternoon in an industrial accident at Interstate Paper in Riceboro. Midway Volunteer Fire and Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Joe Feinhals could not provide additional details, but said the incident involved a forklift. The accident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. at a warehouse on the site of Interstate Paper. The incident is under investigation.

Midway teen dies from accidential gunshot

A Liberty County High School senior, Austin John Eisner, 18, died from an accidental gunshot wound Sunday at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. The accidental shooting took place Saturday at Coastal Auto Parts and Recycling near Walthourville. Eisner was transported to Memorial by helicopter.

Peden, Salmon admit guilt in murders

Christopher Salmon and Anthony Peden, accused members of the F.E.A.R. militia, appeared in Long County court this morning and pleaded guilty in negotiated deals worked out with the state, according to prosecutor Isabel Pauley.
