Hinesville jobless rate dips to 8.3%

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor reported last week that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in metro Hinesville decreased to 8.3 percent in September, down three-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 8.6 percent in August. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed workers in the metro area decreased to 2,695, down 139 from 2,834. The jobless rate in metro Hinesville in September 2009 was 7.8 percent.

Performance studio stages opening

Inspirations Performance Studio recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception. Owner Juanita Lowery and her staff opened the new facility at 913 E.G. Miles Parkway, suite A-1. The studio offers jazz, tap, piano, voice, African dance, lyrical/praise, hip-hop and creative movement lessons for students. Adult classes include zumba, sweating in the spirit, jazzercise and yoga. Courses run from October through May. Inspirations Performance Studio also offers summer classes, workshops and summer kids' camps.
