Medical components maker moving to Bryan County

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Gov. Sonny Perdue recently announced that Dicon Technologies, Inc., a medical component manufacturer and a supplier to U.S. troops, will construct a new facility in Bryan County. The company will create up to 100 jobs in the next five years and invest almost $3.7 million.

Georgia's initial unemployment insurance claims down in May, up for year

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that 44,711 laid-off workers filed first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits in May, down 13.4 percent from April. Most of the decline in claims came in manufacturing industries.

Labor department to televise 14th annual job fair

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor's 14th annual televised job fair will be carried statewide on Georgia Public Broadcasting from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 22. The live broadcast, entitled Job Fair 2008, will originate from Atlanta, Albany and Toccoa. The broadcast will be simulcast over WALB-TV channel 10 in Albany and WNEG-TV channel 32 in Toccoa.
