Coastal Georgiaís unemployment rate declines in April, up over the year

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor reported Thursday that the unemployment rate in the Coastal Georgia area declined to 4.4 percent in April, down one-tenth of 1 percent from a revised 4.5 percent in March. However, the rate was up from 3.4 percent in April 2007.

Georgia's initial unemployment insurance claims rise in April

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced that 51,604 laid-off workers filed first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits in April, up 21.3 percent from March. The increase in claims came across-the-board in manufacturing, construction, trade and services.

Hinesville unemployment rate dips in April, up for the year

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor reported Thursday that the unemployment rate in the metro Hinesville area declined to 4.9 percent in April, down one-tenth of 1 percent from a revised 5.0 percent in March. However, the rate was up from 4.6 percent in April 2007.
