Because of the prevalence of scam artists who moved into an area after a disaster to offer services and then don't perform any of the work promised, area officials have released a list of contractors who are licensed by local governments. Some of the craftsmen who come into an area may do acceptable work. The best way to assure quality work, however, is to contract with a business that has been in the area, and that plans to stay here.
