Tiger Tee-Off to benefit BI athletics

The annual Tiger Tee-Off Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Harvey Overton Bradwell Boosters Club, is set for 1:30 p.m. June 11 at the Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville. There still are slots available for teams and sponsorships. The fee is $50 per person and $200 per team in a four-person scramble format. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams.

Fort Stewart USBC awards scholarships

Danielle Elizabeth Durham and Courtney Ayana Chaney each received a $500 scholarship from the United States Bowling Congress. The two girls were given the scholarships at the Fort Stewart USBC's annual board meeting at Club Stewart. The checks will help the girls cover college expenses.

Liberty Thunder takes second

The 14U Liberty County Thunder baseball team took second place at a tournament May 14-15 in Brunswick. Coaches Ricky Cross and Patrick Sammons said the team played well in its first tournament of the season. The team will be in Pooler this weekend to participate in a wood-bat tournament.
