FPCA Undeniable in challenge

First Presbyterian Christian Academy won this year's Under Armour Finding Undeniable challenge. The news was announced at Friday night's High School All-America game in St. Petersburg, Fla. FPCA, which has 110 students, garnered more internet votes than Needham Broughton High School's 2,200 students in Raleigh, N.C., and now will receive more than $140,000 worth of athletic equipment, attire and accessories from Under Armour.

Former Liberty star McRae goes all out in Vol rivalry game

The rivalry between the University of Tennessee and Memphis basketball teams spans 25 years and is likely to come to an end this year. The coaching staff at Memphis has expressed no interest in continuing the rivalry past this season. There are conflicting reports from news agencies; however, saying the coaching staffs at both schools still are hammering out the details.

Blue Tide finishing summer conditioning

The Long County High School football team's summer conditioning program is winding down. The Blue Tide began their program in June and have been practicing three days a week ever since, with the exception of taking off last week. They will wrap up their conditioning July 17, and their football camp will run July 21-25. School practice begins July 28.

The Bradwell Institute Tigers resumed team practices this week after taking one week off as required by the Georgia High School Association. The players trained with their helmets on, allowing them to become acclimated to the heat.

Swimming is more than treading water

Tom Dunlap started swimming at age 10 and still asserts - 70 years later - that the sport is good for the body and mind. His friend, Gary Burch, started swimming about two years ago and said it has improved his overall health. Both men regularly take to the pool at the Liberty County YMCA, and while they do it to stay in shape and have fun, they want others to know that the recreational activity can be deadly for those who don't know how to swim. "Most of the kids who drown probably thought they could swim," Dunlap said.
