Three local players on winning soccer team

Kelsey Higgason (second row, left), Asyria Daniels (second row, second from left) and Brooke Standard (third row, next to coach) recently participated on the Coastal Georgia SSA U18 Tournament team in the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee. The team, coached by Michael Townsend, won the tourney with the final match against Florida's No. 6 Santa Rosa (Pensacola) going into overtime and a penalty-kick shootout. The tournament made it seven matches in three days for Higgason, Daniels and Standard as they had just completed an FPCA high-school tournament at Sherwood Academy in Albany before traveling to Tallahassee. Long Co. 10-under team wins state crown

Blue Tide finishing summer conditioning

The Long County High School football team's summer conditioning program is winding down. The Blue Tide began their program in June and have been practicing three days a week ever since, with the exception of taking off last week. They will wrap up their conditioning July 17, and their football camp will run July 21-25. School practice begins July 28.

Tigers resume team practice, raise funds

The Bradwell Institute Tigers resumed team practices this week after taking one week off as required by the Georgia High School Association. The players trained with their helmets on, allowing them to become acclimated to the heat.
