Rebels receive donation

The St. James Coastal Crew Rebels sixth-grade and 17U Elite teams received a recent boost after Fred Mingledorff, owner of Hinesville Ford, made a donation to help cover the teams' travel expenses. Area players help Comets to championship

The Comets, a soccer team featuring Liberty County residents Cassandra Ruff, Sidney Wilkinson Kaitlyn Anderson, Mary Kathryn Whitney and Cecilia Graham, took the championship trophy at the Savannah Shamrock Cup on May 25-26. The 14U Comets beat Effingham United '99G, 6-0, in the semifinals in St. Andrews Stadium on Wilmington Island. Testing the condition of a bunker

Q: Alice and Martha are playing No. 5 on their home course. Martha's ball comes to rest short of the green. There is a small, shallow bunker between her ball and the green. Martha wants to putt her ball through the bunker. She believes this is the best shot since the bunker is shallow and the hole is near the bunker. Martha knows that the superintendent recently put new sand in all of the bunkers, so she decides to test the condition of the sand before hitting. Can she do this?
