Tigers shut out Panthers

Liberty County High School on Friday had been looking to avenge last week's baseball loss to Bradwell Institute, but it didn't happen. Instead, the Tigers team claimed a 10-0 shutout win at home over the Panthers. The game ended in the sixth inning.

FPCA soccer boys beat Alleluia

It's no wonder college scouts have been checking out the First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys soccer team and signing players. The squad finished as state runner up last season and is poised to make another state run this year. On Friday afternoon, they helped their chances by beating Alleluia Community School, 5-2, at St. James Field. Highlander Clark Sukaratana signed to Point University on Friday morning and was the first Highlander to score a goal that afternoon. The Long County High School baseball team won its first Region 2-AA game of the year Thursday, defeating McIntosh County 10-3. With the win, the Blue Tide improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the region.

Blue Tide finishing summer conditioning

The Long County High School football team's summer conditioning program is winding down. The Blue Tide began their program in June and have been practicing three days a week ever since, with the exception of taking off last week. They will wrap up their conditioning July 17, and their football camp will run July 21-25. School practice begins July 28.

The Bradwell Institute Tigers resumed team practices this week after taking one week off as required by the Georgia High School Association. The players trained with their helmets on, allowing them to become acclimated to the heat.
