Panthers pull out win against strong foe

The third time was the charm for the Liberty County Panthers in the Gentlemen's Classic at Statesboro. Losing in successive nights to Battery Creek, South Carolina and Brunswick, Liberty came out strong to defeat Osborne High School, 88-72. The Cardinals from Marietta traditionally play good basketball.

Honors keep piling up for player

In addition to the numerous accolades Liberty County High School football standout Raekwon McMillan has racked up the past two years - including winning the 2013 Butkus Award, which goes to the top high-school linebacker in the nation - the future Ohio State Buckeye recently received the Coastal Courier/Mike Reed Chevrolet Player of the Year award for the Panthers. Blue Tide finishing summer conditioning

The Long County High School football team's summer conditioning program is winding down. The Blue Tide began their program in June and have been practicing three days a week ever since, with the exception of taking off last week. They will wrap up their conditioning July 17, and their football camp will run July 21-25. School practice begins July 28.

Tigers resume team practice, raise funds

The Bradwell Institute Tigers resumed team practices this week after taking one week off as required by the Georgia High School Association. The players trained with their helmets on, allowing them to become acclimated to the heat.
