Tourney raises nearly $4K

The Citizens of Georgia Power held its third annual "Pitch a Cure" softball tournament March 23 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The co-ed, double elimination tournament at James Brown Park started at 8:30 a.m. and ended at 10:30 p.m. The weather fluctuated between sunshine, rain, thunder, lightning, wind and cold temperatures, but the tournament ended successfully.

Tide ground New Hampstead, 15-0

The Long County High School baseball team Wednesday picked up its eighth victory of the year, defeating New Hampstead High School in Savannah. The Blue Tide grounded the Phoenix team in a one-sided thumping, 15-0, to improve their overall record to 8-5; their 2-AA Region mark remains at 3-3.
