Line Drive wins Cal Ripken tourney

The 13U Line Drive baseball team, out of Pooler, went 7-0-1 at the weeklong Cal Ripken Experience Tournament last week in Aberdeen, Md. The team, which includes Hinesville native Christian Ruff, tied New Canaan, 11-11, before winning the championship game, 4-3, over the formerly undefeated Virginia Panthers. Long County's Dustin McGowan finally made it back to the pitcher's mound. Getting his first start since 2008, Mcgowan started July 2 for the Class A Dunedin Blue Jays against the Daytona Cubs in Dunedin, Fla.. He announced to Chris that he was hitting a provisional ball. Before hitting his provisional, John replaced his divot and dropped a new ball as near as possible to the spot where he hit his last shot. Did John proceed in accordance with the rules?
