Special Olympics brings together area athletes

Blue Tide baseball team holds rec night for players, coaches

The Blue Tide baseball team recently held its annual Recreation Night in Long County. Around 50 players and coaches who are participating in the T-ball, softball and baseball programs came out for the night. Recreation department Director Michelle Rogers said more than 400 children will be playing this year.

5-on-5 basketball tourney set for Saturday The SNF Relay for Life Team is hosting a five-on-five basketball tournament, dunk contest and 3-point contest at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Riceboro Youth Center. Q: John and Chris were playing the fourth hole in their Saturday men's event. John hit his ball from the fairway and was almost sure that he went out of bounds. He announced to Chris that he was hitting a provisional ball. Testing the condition of a bunker

Q: Alice and Martha are playing No. 5 on their home course. Martha's ball comes to rest short of the green. There is a small, shallow bunker between her ball and the green. Martha wants to putt her ball through the bunker. She believes this is the best shot since the bunker is shallow and the hole is near the bunker. Martha knows that the superintendent recently put new sand in all of the bunkers, so she decides to test the condition of the sand before hitting. Can she do this?
