Tourney raises nearly $4K
The Citizens of Georgia Power held its third annual "Pitch a Cure" softball tournament March 23 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The co-ed, double elimination tournament at James Brown Park started at 8:30 a.m. and ended at 10:30 p.m. The weather fluctuated between sunshine, rain, thunder, lightning, wind and cold temperatures, but the tournament ended successfully.
Tigers, FPCA get wins on diamond
Bradwell vs. Windsor Forest Bradwell Institute earned another road win, and First Presbyterian Christian Academy is 3-0 on their new home field; both teams dominated their respective opponents Friday afternoon. Tide ground New Hampstead, 15-0
The Long County High School baseball team Wednesday picked up its eighth victory of the year, defeating New Hampstead High School in Savannah. The Blue Tide grounded the Phoenix team in a one-sided thumping, 15-0, to improve their overall record to 8-5; their 2-AA Region mark remains at 3-3.
LCRD’s taekwondo girls perform well in Puerto Rico
Three local girls competed March 10-13 in the International Taekwondo Championship in San German, Puerto Rico. The tournament, hosted by Master Bill Zafiropoulos, featured teams from 12 countries.

Dixie Stables holds spring horse show
Mother Nature didn't deter the folks at Dixie Stables on Sunday. Although the impending gloomy weather did force Bluff Creek Stables to pull from the show, four local stables in Liberty County and two stables from the surrounding area presented their best at the annual horse show. The Blue Tide baseball team recently held its annual Recreation Night in Long County. Around 50 players and coaches who are participating in the T-ball, softball and baseball programs came out for the night. Q: John and Chris were playing the fourth hole in their Saturday men's event. John hit his ball from the fairway and was almost sure that he went out of bounds. He announced to Chris that he was hitting a provisional ball. Before hitting his provisional, John replaced his divot and dropped a new ball as near as possible to the spot where he hit his last shot. Did John proceed in accordance with the rules?
