New regions set, new foes for BI, LCHS

BI lands five on 3-AAAAA team

Five Bradwell Institute softball players were named to the All Region 3-AAAAA team. Lady Tiger Barbara Rego was named to the all-region first team. Rego played as a pitcher, catcher and shortstop during her senior year. She recently represented the region and BI softball in the Georgia Dugout Club All State Games on Nov. 11-12 at the South Commons Olympic Softball Complex in Columbus. Tigers lose lead, game to Johnson High

For nearly 30 minutes Friday night, Bradwell Institute controlled the game, the pace and held the lead against unbeaten Johnson. But the visiting Atomsmashers outscored the Tigers' 18-8 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 55-50 win and stay unbeaten in Region 3-AAAAA.

BI Tigers maul Bulldogs

Bradwell Institute opened region 3-AAAAA play against Beach on Tuesday night for what may be the last time as reclassification comes down the pike. Beach defeated the Lady Tigers, 48-30, but the Tigers took the boys' game, 81-66.

BI, Beach in a rematch

Blue Tide baseball team holds rec night for players, coaches

The Blue Tide baseball team recently held its annual Recreation Night in Long County. Around 50 players and coaches who are participating in the T-ball, softball and baseball programs came out for the night. Recreation department Director Michelle Rogers said more than 400 children will be playing this year.
