New regions set, new foes for BI, LCHS
On Wednesday, the Georgia High School Athletic Association announced the 2012-14 region realignments. Schools have until Dec. 16 to appeal. Here is how local schools were affected:

BI lands five on 3-AAAAA team
Five Bradwell Institute softball players were named to the All Region 3-AAAAA team. Lady Tiger Barbara Rego was named to the all-region first team. Rego played as a pitcher, catcher and shortstop during her senior year. She recently represented the region and BI softball in the Georgia Dugout Club All State Games on Nov. 11-12 at the South Commons Olympic Softball Complex in Columbus. Tigers lose lead, game to Johnson High
For nearly 30 minutes Friday night, Bradwell Institute controlled the game, the pace and held the lead against unbeaten Johnson. But the visiting Atomsmashers outscored the Tigers' 18-8 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 55-50 win and stay unbeaten in Region 3-AAAAA.
Drama kings
Liberty County High School's Michael Farrior's 3-pointer at the buzzer forced overtime Friday night against visiting Tattnall County. The Panthers then did what they had to do in OT to earn a 65-60 win, leaving them undefeated.
Lady Panthers run past Tattnall Co.
Three Lady Panthers scored in double digits to lead Liberty County High School to a 72-49 win Friday night against Tattnall County in a nonregion girls' basketball contest.
Lady Tigers crush Lady ’Smashers
The Bradwell Institute girls' basketball team had little trouble with Region 3-AAAAA foe Johnson High on Friday night in Hinesville, riding defense to a 58-29 win over the Lady Atomsmashers.

Bradwell Institute opened region 3-AAAAA play against Beach on Tuesday night for what may be the last time as reclassification comes down the pike. Beach defeated the Lady Tigers, 48-30, but the Tigers took the boys' game, 81-66.
Panthers now 5-0 after win over McIntosh Co.
Four Panthers hit the double-digits in scoring Tuesday night to lead unbeaten Liberty County High School to a 64-48 win over McIntosh County Academy in Darien.

The Long County High School girls' basketball team fell to 0-2 with a 38-17 loss to Wayne County on Saturday in Jesup.
BI, Beach in a rematch
Bradwell Institute guard Javante Richey looks to pass during the first meeting between BI and rival Beach in the Joe Greene Tournament at Beach High School earlier this month. Both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs won. The Bradwell boys evened the score Tuesday night beating the Bulldogs 81-66. The score for the Lady Tigers' game was not available by press time. First-year baseball coach Andy Yanzetich congratulated his senior players after First Presbyterian Christian Academy closed the season Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Coastal Home School at St. James Field.

Blue Tide baseball team holds rec night for players, coaches
The Blue Tide baseball team recently held its annual Recreation Night in Long County. Around 50 players and coaches who are participating in the T-ball, softball and baseball programs came out for the night. Recreation department Director Michelle Rogers said more than 400 children will be playing this year.
