Here’s good reason to take flagstick out of hole before putt

Q: Barry and Ralph are playing No. 16 at Sapelo Hammock. Barry's ball is on the green, but a long way from the hole. Ralph still is looking near the hazard for his ball. Rather than waiting for Ralph to attend the flagstick, Barry proceeds to putt. His ball approaches the hole, hangs over the lip for a few seconds and then falls into the hole. Ralph says that Barry must add a penalty stroke for hitting the flagstick since he was putting from the green. Barry says no because his ball fell into the hole without hitting the ...

Liberty Co. game is Thursday

Liberty County High School's game at No. 5-ranked Statesboro has been moved up to Thursday night. Kick off also was moved up to 7 p.m. to accommodate playing on a school night. The game is the Region 3A-AAAA opener for both teams. Both the Blue Devils and Panthers are 5-1. "We can't make any mistakes against a team like Statesboro," Panthers coach Kirk Warner said. "We know what they've got, we know what they bring and we just have to be ready for them."

FPCA finish as state runners-up

It was a gut-wrenching loss. A three point difference is all it took in drowning First Presbyterian Christian Academy's chase for a state title. The Highlanders boys shed many tears losing 60-57 to Furtah Prep in Staurday's Class AA championship game at Mercer University.
