Warriors spoil the party

Anderson, S.C., has a new championship football team. Its semipro team, the Red Dawgs, knocked off the reigning champions, the Hinesville Hurricanes, 21-12, on Oct. 1 to win the 2011 Southeastern American Football League title.

The Bradwell Institute boys' and girls' cross-country teams competed against 10 high schools at the Jaguar Invitational in Evans last weekend. The boys and girls both brought home hardware, according to Bradwell cross-country coach Brian Williams, as the Tigers finished second and the Lady Tigers finished third overall.

Long County loses to Pierce County

The Long County High School football team lost to Pierce County, 21-3, on Friday in Blackshear. The Blue Tide started off keeping the score close, only being down 7-3 at the half. However, two Pierce County scores in the third quarter put the game out of reach, handing Long County its sixth loss of the season.

Blue Tide baseball team holds rec night for players, coaches

Around 50 players and coaches who are participating in the T-ball, softball and baseball programs came out for the night. Recreation department Director Michelle Rogers said more than 400 children will be playing this year.

He announced to Chris that he was hitting a provisional ball.
