Late in the fourth quarter senior Panther running back Shadrach Thornton picked up a one-hopper from a punt and dashed for 70 yards on what appeared to be the game winning touchdown against Wayne County High at Donell Woods tonight.

It was anyone's game during the first quarter as Liberty County took on Ware County on Friday night in Waycross. But the Gators are ranked sixth in Class AAAA for a reason and quickly gained control to beat the Panthers, 47-6.

Anderson, S.C., has a new championship football team. Its semipro team, the Red Dawgs, knocked off the reigning champions, the Hinesville Hurricanes, 21-12, on Oct. 1 to win the 2011 Southeastern American Football League title.
