Wildcats stun Panthers at homecoming

Despite a 92 yard return for a touchdown in the opening kick of the game by Liberty's Tay Tay Bacon, the Richmond Hill Wildcats upset the Panthers' homecoming winning 14-6 at Donell Wood Stadium tonight. Minutes after scoring their first touchdown Shadrach Thornton plowed through blockers and ran to the outside for a 51 yard touchdown that was wiped away by a holding call. The Panthers had several opportunities inside the Wildcats' 20 but were unable to punch through the goal line.

Hurricanes play for another title on Saturday

After a brief hiatus due to Labor Day weekend, Hurricane Irene and forfeiture by an opposing team on Sept. 24, the Hinesville Hurricanes are set to play at 7 p.m. Saturday night for all the marbles.

The Bradwell Institute cross-country teams added a couple more wins to their respective seasons Saturday at the Ebenezer Invitational at South Effingham. There were 11 teams participating in the event with about 120 runners in each division.
