Long County loses to Southeast Bulloch in OT

The folks at Veterans' Stadium were on their feet as the Long County Blue Tide scored a touchdown with two seconds left on the clock, forcing overtime Friday night. Blue Tide football coach Ronald Flott was playing against the Yellow Jackets of Southeast Bulloch, where he used to coach, and the score was tied, 21-21, at the end of regulation.

Walker Middle School loses to Martha Puckett

Walker Middle School defender Thomas Watts deflects a pass intended for a Yellow Jackets receiver in Wednesday's 28-15 loss against Martha Puckett in Jesup. Brandon Scott and Tanner Brant scored touchdowns for the Wildcats. The contest was the first regular-season game for Walker Middle School. The team's next game is Sept. 7, when they travel to Waycross to take on Ware County at 5 p.m.

Friday night local scores

Liberty County hosted McIntosh County Academy and sent them home with a goose egg defeating the Buccaneers 28-0. Within the first three minutes of the game senior Panther running back Shadrach Thornton rushed for 95 yards and a touch down. Thronton had 3 touchdowns before resting out in the fourth quarter. The final touchdown came from Andre Haggray on a 5 yard run. The Panther defense was led by Raekwon McMillan, Melvin King Anthony Dabson and Rodney Goffney.

Former Lady Highlander basketball player Aaliyah Wilson got a big surprise when she visited First Presbyterian Christian Academy on Friday morning. The Lady 'Lander basketball standout received a scholarship last year to play basketball at Brewton-Parker College, but her busy schedule didn't give the school administrators an opportunity to honor her with a signing ceremony.
