15U Rebels 11th at nationals

Thunder win Brunswick tournament

Liberty's 14U traveling baseball team, the Thunder, won its final tournament of the season in Brunswick last weekend. It wasn't easy, but the boys held strong in a three-hour championship game, winning, 9-6, in extra innings. The boys finished their 2011 season with a combined record of 18-4. The team thanked parents, coaches and Carol Jarrett and Cut Loose Hair Salon for all their work and support.

South Georgia Kings victorious at tourney

The South Georgia Basketball League held a championship tournament Sunday at Myers Middle School in Savannah. The South Georgia Kings junior boys took the championship trophy by beating the Savannah Cobras, 57-50. Junior player Richard LeCounte (35) was recognized at the SGBL awards banquet for earning his division's MVP award.

Former Highlander, now at BPC, honored by FPCA

Former Lady Highlander basketball player Aaliyah Wilson got a big surprise when she visited First Presbyterian Christian Academy on Friday morning. The Lady 'Lander basketball standout received a scholarship last year to play basketball at Brewton-Parker College, but her busy schedule didn't give the school administrators an opportunity to honor her with a signing ceremony.
